Week Beginning 17th July 17…

  • July 21, 2017

Animal Sanctuary…

Enjoying the small world animal sanctuary with a wide range of animals from cheetahs sprinting across the savannah to pigs rolling in the mud on the farm. Each corner was different scene from different habitats over the world and the Gibbons loved mixing the animals around and imitating their sounds. Prepared with their all in one waterproofs and wellies, the Gibbons ventured outside and did ice painting in the garden. Not scared to get their hands wet from or the ice or messy from the paint, they children created some lovely pictures ready for display. On the other side of the garden, you could find some of the Gibbons rolling different sized balls down the bank aiming to score into the tub that was place at the bottom. Celebratory dances and songs were performed when the Gibbons scored and got and the ball in the pot. Soon there will be a new ‘Dingle Dangle Scarecrow Board in the Gibbon room, and this week the children have been using glue and straw to get their new board ready. Of course, most of the straw ended up on themselves, but the board is really coming along thanks to their handy craft work.

Working at the car wash…

After playing with the cars outside in the sandpit and on the ground, the Baboons noticed their cars were rather dirty so they opened their own car washing shop and used shaving foam, soapy water and toothbrushes to get their cars sparkling clean again. Spraying the shaving foam over not just the cars but everyone and the entire room aswell, the Baboons laughed especially when some of the children made Santa Clause beards with the foam. Using the shaving foam in another activity, the Baboons mixed it with food colouring and used paintbrushes to paint with the colourful foam. The foam looked like colourful snow and the children blew it in air to look like real snow falling.  For this week’s creativity activity, the floor and tables were covered in big sheets of tin foil, and the Baboons used different coloured pens to draw pictures on. They drew around their hands and their feet and saw who had the biggest and the smallest. Drawing pictures of spaceships to animals the tin foils were covered with their artwork.

Sports Day…

With sports day coming up this weekend, the Gorillas have been practising the games they will be taking part in on Saturday. Some were balancing their egg on their spoon very carefully trying not drop it, some were sprinting as fast as they could to get over the finish line first. Nadeem has been getting them all ready in preparation for Saturday to show their skills for everyone to see. The Gorilla’s talked about Saturday and said they were most looking forward to the family and staff tug of war (so you better eat your spinaches families).  The Nature Kids found the brand-new sandpit up at the allotment and made sandcastles and various sand cakes as a treat for everyone to enjoy after lunch. Alisha was weeding away up there, and gave the Gorillas special gloves to help her weed also. Every time the Nature Kids go up there, they seem to find new life up there that they had not discovered before, so the Gorillas went on a hunt to see what they could discover this time and looked around in the secret garden. They couldn’t find any new animals; however, they did receive lots of wild pretty flowers from Pete and a crate of raspberries and blackberries for the nursery. With their new treats in hand, the Gorillas came back on the bus singing their favourite songs. Back at nursery, the Gorillas spoke a lot about the weather as it has been very up and down this week. They spoke about the thunder storm that had happened earlier on in the week and how it made them feel when they heard it. They imitated the sounds of the thunder and said which their favourite weather was. They hoped for sunshine and no rain for Saturdays Summer picnic and Sports day at the park, wish we hope to see you all there.
