We are a Nature Kindergarten!

“The best classroom and the richest cupboard is roofed only by the sky”.

Whether it be on the beach, in a park, in our woodland garden, in the workshop, at the kitchen garden, inside the kindergarten, or out and about in the local community, our rich, natural learning experiences make us unique.

Our sustainable, nature ethos is an integral part of our curriculum and woven into our daily interactions and activities; it is not just offered as a couple of sessions a week.

“There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing”.

Children adore being outside. They care far less about being outdoors in rainy weather than we adults do, as long as they are dressed appropriately.

Our daily experiences give your child the opportunity to connect with the outdoors, build resourcefulness, and overcome challenges; developing high levels of self-esteem through play and exploration framed by our Young Friends Nature Curriculum.

We are fortunate to have a local park with a variety of wooded settings and to be close to the beach. Better yet, we have a magical, private woodland garden of our own, filled with native plants and a wonderful outdoor workshop, fully equipped with real tools.

Children thrive on free play and activities that involve teamwork and problem solving. Engaging in outdoor activities and learning about nature, from the smallest insect to the largest tree, can enhance a child’s sense of self and their connection with the natural world.

Being outdoors and learning about tide and weather patterns helps your child to develop their mental and physical confidence as well as their respect for the sea and how to be safe around it.

They will also learn about their responsibility for their environment through activities like beach cleans, and about how to take responsibility for themselves and others, as the older children help the younger ones.
