Trips and Outings

Young Friends Kindergarten recognises the benefits from trips outside of the setting. They can satisfy a child's natural curiosity to learn about and explore what the outdoors has to offer, as well as help them become more self-assured and aware of the world around them. The more a child goes out the more aware of safety rules they become, and because this is frequent our children quickly become very capable and understand the importance of listening when we are out and about. Trips are naturally more abundant March - October when it is milder weather. The kitchen garden becomes regular for the over threes from the start of the growing season.

Our trips are a very important part of enabling our children to feel a part of the local community which further enriches their experience with us. We go on daily trips for many different reasons:

  • Beach clean ups
  • Beach activities
  • Park/green space activities
  • Local refill/sustainable shops
  • Fruit and vegetable shops
  • Charity shops
  • Kitchen garden
  • Recycling
  • A trip round the block in the kiddibus
  • Posting a letter
  • Or it could be as ‘small’ as a trip up the road to check out people pruning trees, or doing some building work
