Teddy bear picnic…
Let’s have a teddy bear picnic! The Gibbons put on a lovely spread of rice krispies and cornflakes for their teddy bears too munch on, with cups of ‘tea’ and napkins to wipe their faces with. The Gibbons explored a story bag full of animals – soft, squidgy and hard to hold and shake whilst they listened to the Dear Zoo story book. Lifting flaps, turning pages and shouting out lion noises were echoing through the White Room. Because our Gibbons liked their animal bag so much, they took the animals and painted their feet printing them almost everywhere – and on paper. As always it didn’t take the Gibbons long to ransack the Reggio table which consisted of sticks and flour, but not only did they make marks on the table itself but our Gibbons, often liking to stick to what they know best, covered themselves, each other and the staff in flour too. Finally, one of our Gibbons turned one this week – so a massive Happy birthday to Jossi. They held a birthday party for him, enjoyed some ‘fake’ cake, danced and of course sang him Happy Birthday.
Baboons are going on bear hunt…
What a busy week the Baboons have had. Our garden was transformed into a ‘Bear Hunt’ story set where the children walked through builder’s trays full of grass, mud and water (our pretend river) reciting the words ‘What a beautiful day. We’re not scared” until they reached the big dark cave and the very grizzly (but cute) Baboon bear chased them all the way back home (to the story shack). The Baboons collected petals and leaves and spoke about the varied sizes and colours they found and then added them to the ‘creation station’ to make nature collages to take home. Putting ‘Messy time’ to its full potential our Baboons squirted shaving foam and paint into plastic wine cups to create very colourful ‘ice-cream’ cones. Giggling and smiling they mixed and explored the colours creating rather yucky looking ‘ice-cream’. 1,2,3,4. 1,2,3,4 went the drums in the dance room – the children were marching around the room copying rhythms and beats using drums and counting numbers. Enjoying the lovely sunshine outside the garden, the Baboons spent afternoons making bubble mixture and blowing bubbles in the garden. They had challenges of counting up to 3 until the bubble popped. The Baboons also counted to 5 in Finish this week aswell as French, Spanish, Italian and German. Well done Baboons!
Rehearsals underway…
In the build-up to the play this week, the Gorillas having dress rehearsals with their bird masks, high vis jackets and postman hats, you know really living and breathing their characters. The children have been singing their songs and practising their parts ready for their big debut on Saturday! The Baboons and the Gibbons even joined the Gorillas this week to practise the play altogether and helped the younger children sing their songs. Letter ‘D’ and ‘E’ have been the letters of the week with children learning and practicing trying to write them. Alex made an amazing ‘Cinderella’ small world for the children to add little figures too. The children spoke about which Disney story was their favourite and which one they like to have in small world area next week. Nadeem’s sports sessions have been glorious this week in the sunny weather. The children were tag running together, and racing to collect balls from the centre of the field.
