A bunch of hungry caterpillars…
The Reggio Emilia Area was turned into a Hungry Caterpillar themed world with real fruit and veg and caterpillars painted on stones. The Gibbons read the story with the adults and helped feed their caterpillars when they were hungry (and themselves). Printing with peppers, broccolis, and other various vegetables, the Gibbons splattered paint onto the appear with their eatable painting brushes and edible stamps and created some lovely fine artwork. Rolling out playdough and shaping it to make iced buns the Gibbons have been pretend cooking in their home corner baking some lovely scrumptious treats. Shaking, drumming and dancing to the beat of the drums, the Gibbons have had some band practise this week creating a whole lot of noise coming from their room. We think they might need some more practise before they turn professional….
Baboons go camping…
Have you got your sleeping bags ready? The Baboons have, and they imagined going camping at the Small World Area with their torches and blankets. They imagined toasting marshmallows at the campfires, singing songs and telling scary ghost stories. Acting like monkeys, bunnies and roaring lions, the Baboons played a game of animal dice and role played the different actions they thought the animals would do. From acting like animals to painting them with stencils, the Baboons painted over the animal figures and were amazed with their finished piece of assorted colour outlines of animals. The Baboons went to Middle farm this week and had a great laugh looking around exploring the farm. They all got to see their favourite farmyard animals and watch their feeding times and to finish off with an exciting adventure in the haybale stack maze.
Gorillas visit the farm…
All week, the Gorillas have been visiting Mile Oak farm in the mini bus with the staff. They met all the different animals such as horses, donkeys, ducks, turkeys, chicken, cows and sheep. They laughed as the big rooster chased them and Nadeem around the farm and they enjoyed copying the different animal noises. Finishing of their trips with a picnic at the farm before coming back to nursery to tell others about their cool fun trip! If they weren’t at the farm, the Gorillas were at the allotment watering the onions and garlic bulbs. They harvested the kale and brought it back to the nursery for our lovely chef to use in their lunches this week. In between the gardening and harvesting, the Nature kids built a tent with branches, sticks and leaves with large sheets of cover for their shelter. They talked about camping holidays and how they were so much fun! With the trips to the farm this week it only seemed right that the Small world was a farm animal themed and the Gorillas loved building them homes from the sand and straw and feeding them like they witnessed at the farm. Keeping healthy and fit, the Gorillas have been doing Gymnastics as well yoga this week in the dance room. Jumping, roly-poly’s and stretching were just some of the fun moves they have been doing.
