The Baboon room caters for children aged between 24 to 36 months depending on development. There are five key practitioners based within this room, which care for a maximum of 16 children per day. One of our Deputy Managers heads up the Baboons.
The Baboon room is spacious and open plan with clearly set out zones linked to the EYFS learning areas including Mark-making, Role play, Maths and Construction and a quiet book/reading area. They have a buzzing cooking/role play and eating area which is linked to the kitchen – making for really exciting cooking sessions. They also have their own beautiful newly built conservatory where they concentrate their quieter activities and group times. This has their own access to the garden providing free-flow at designated times through sliding glass doors. Each area of the Baboon space is carefully and thoughtfully set up each day with age appropriate activities taken from the children’s interests and replenished throughout the day to create an environment which is consistently well balanced between fun, nurture, calm and education.
The room itself has recently been refurbished and is amazingly bright, colourful and visually stimulating. The floor is fitted with exciting coloured tiles and, as with all of the groups the walls are full of displays, artwork and pictures of the children to give them a sense of belonging and pride.
Within this age span most of the children, at some stage, will be learning about potty/toilet training. Therefore there is also a bathroom directly attached to the main play room with child toilets, potties, child-height sinks and a nappy changing station.
